Founding Principles
Windstream Communications was founded in 1998 when CEO Arunas Chesonis and a core team of visionary executives recognized that existing telecommunications providers were failing to respect the most important factor governing the long-term success of any business -first-rate customer service. Windstream was founded on the principle that extraordinary customer service is the essential prerequisite to financial success. With over 200 years of combined experience in telecommunications and information technology, Windstream’s executive team has crafted a dynamic corporate culture that emphasizes people as the essential corporate asset, and world-class partnerships as the foundation for long-term business growth.
Corporate Mission
Windstream’s corporate mission is to be the most customer and employee-oriented business in any market it serves. This challenging objective has led to financial stability and profitability in a market that has otherwise suffered dramatic losses during the same time period.
People Are Our Priority
Windstream has built its entire business around people – our customers, our employees, and our business alliances. Our customer satisfaction rates speak for themselves, and are the direct result of a corporate culture that is absolutely dedicated to delighting our customers at every stage of the relationship, and at every point of contact. At Windstream, we foster a working environment that rewards enthusiasm, teamwork, individual initiative, and proper work-life balance. Our business alliances represent the gold standard in the technology sector and permit us to provide our customers with the highest quality products and services available today.
Business Integrity
At Windstream, our success is defined not just by being the most customer- and employee-oriented communications provider in the industry, but also by our reputation for integrity and fair dealing. Windstream’s articulates the standards of business and professional ethics and represents our commitment to promoting the highest ethical standards.
Quality as a Way of Life
Telecommunications is an inherently complex business, and the value of precise quality control is difficult to overemphasize. No small part of our success has been the result of our dedication to continuous quality improvement in our products, our processes, and our people, and we have the credentials to prove it. All Windstream internal procedures are completely ISO 9001:2000-certified to ensure consistent delivery of the highest level of service to our customers. To further our commitment to quality, Six Sigma, a methodology that uses data and statistical analysis to measure and improve operational performance is now being deployed throughout Windstream. As a result, our customers reap the benefits through consistent, superior service and reduced costs.

Windstream – IP Hosted Telephony, Dynamic IP (DESCRIPTION)
Windstream is competitive in the IP Telephony market because the carrier offers both hosted and premise-based options to its customers, and backs those services with professional services and CPE products, providing a complete solution for its customers’ communications needs. Windstream initially launched its Hosted VoIP and SIP Trunking services in January 2006, and since then has targeted domestic small and mid-sized customers with a message of flexibility and customer service. The carrier lets its direct sales representatives and its channel partners tailor each solution to a customer’s specific needs, ensuring that customers receive the combination of services that is most suitable to their business requirements. Windstream is a certified equipment reseller for Adtran, Avaya, Cisco, Nortel and Toshiba products, and the carrier helps customers bundle hardware into a total communications solution. Windstream offers customers a variety of financing options, including its Equipment for Services program in which the equipment lease costs are integrated into the total solution package. The carrier considers its “sweet spot” to be mid-sized U.S. companies with multiple locations; by offering services that range from SIP trunking to fully hosted network-based VoIP solutions, Windstream can deliver business VoIP along the spectrum for small to mid-sized companies. Windstream’s customized solutions solve business VoIP needs and can also include other services such as managed router, security services, and managed WAN.
Windstream is the largest independent CLEC in the U.S. and offers its VoIP services in over 80 major U.S. markets, but the carrier does not have the deep regional reach of incumbent carriers. The carrier’s primary target is mid-sized businesses with multiple locations, and while it does reach many major markets, the carrier will need to go off-net to serve multi-site businesses with a national presence that goes beyond its metro areas. Additionally, Windstream is finalizing its integration of McLeodUSA, a process that as of February 2009 is largely complete. Windstream has done a good job of rapidly integrating networks and employees and has launched a unified product catalog across all regions, but the carrier is completing the integration of provisioning and customer care systems, network operations centers, and consolidating billing platforms. Currently there is still some variance in legacy services between regions, but under the unified product portfolio Windstream now provides one common set of services nationwide, with one contract and one bill for each account.
